John E. Malesardi, 68: Nyack Treasurer and Eastchester Resident
Malesardi also was treasurer for the Eastchester Fire Department, and the Eastchester School District, and was a rec umpire in Scarsdale.

John E. Malesardi, 68, passed away on November 8, 2015.
John was a lifelong resident of Eastchester, NY. He leaves behind his loving wife Susan, and daughters Dana and Kristen (Brian). John worked at Hudson Valley Bank as First Senior Vice President, Investment Officer for 34 years before retiring. John was treasurer for the Town of Nyack and treasurer for the Eastchester Fire Dept. as well as the Eastchester School District. John was very involved in civic organizations including the Eastchester Italian American Club where he served as their treasurer and as a past president of the Yonkers Exchange Club.

“John was devoted to getting Nyack’s finances on the right track and revolutionized and modernized the way our village looks at and deals with tax payer money,” Nyack Mayor Jen Laird-White told the Nyack Free Press. “He was a kind, decent and incredibly smart man who quietly fought a battle with a vicious disease. Despite his struggle, he continued to serve Nyack resident and everyone at Village Hall.”
In the past John was involved with the Scarsdale and Eastchester Recreation Departments as a head umpire, was a referee for Section I athletics and EIBL games and served as an umpire for the Eastchester Women’s softball team.

John taught finance at Mercy College as an adjunct professor. John’s favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. He will be missed by his family and many friends for his quick wit, kindness and generosity. His family would like to acknowledge Dr. Joshua Raff, WP Hospital Infusion center nurses and the staff of 5F for the excellent care he received from them.
