Minecraft Challenge Prompts Kids to Solve Real-World Problems
The Digital Arts Experience in Scarsdale to hold a design challenge where kids will solve community issues using the popular game Minecraft

The Digital Arts Experience (The DAE) is holding a Minecraft Community Design Challenge on Friday June 25th at 4:30pm, open to Westchester kids ages 8-14 who pre-register. The event will be held in-person at The DAE’s location at 303 Central Park Ave. in Scarsdale and admission is $25 per entrant. The first place winner will receive a Nintendo Switch Lite.
“Minecraft is such an amazing creative tool, it allows builders to create anything they can dream up"
The official design prompt will be revealed prior to the competition start time and will be focused on a specific infrastructure issue in the community. Competitors will be judged on criteria such as: How well their solution solves the problem, the creativity involved in their solution and how well it is thought through, the aesthetic of their build, as well as other factors. The prompt may include: parks, shops, roads, traffic, etc. and will be outlined in detail at the start of the event.
“Minecraft is such an amazing creative tool, it allows builders to create anything they can dream up," says Rob Kissner, The DAE’s Founder & President. “By applying Minecraft's open world and limitless building potential to a real issue that we are facing in our community, it allows participants to apply their limitless creativity to solve problems while having fun with no constraints. That’s how innovative solutions come to fruition.”
