NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Welcomes New OB/GYN Doctor

The new doctor is originally from Brooklyn and moved back to New York to be closer to where she was born and raised.

SCARSDALE, NY — NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Westchester is welcoming Karimah Smith, M.D., assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center to the medical group’s Scarsdale location at 696 White Plains Road. It is affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and provides routine gynecological and prenatal care and specializes in adolescent obstetrics and gynecology.

Higgins, M.D., Regional Executive Medical Director of NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Westchester and Hudson Valley. “She brings with her an enthusiasm for caring for women of all ages and excellent experience providing Ob/Gyn care at a private practice. Her personalized and compassionate approach to medicine aligns perfectly with our mission to provide quality patient-centered care to women throughout Westchester.”

After earning her medical degree from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia, Smith completed her residency in Ob/Gyn at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. There, she served as the 2014/2015 academic chief resident and the class of 2015 representative for the Ob/Gyn Education Committee.

Smith joins NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Westchester from Florida, where she has worked with an Ob/Gyn private group practice and as an emergency room physician for the past several years. Originally from Brooklyn, she has moved back to New York to be closer to where she was born and raised and now lives in Westchester.

Smith is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists and the International Health Care Volunteers. In 2014, Dr. Smith was awarded the Excellence in Research Award from Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
