Fireplace Mishap, Frightened Toddler: Scarsdale Fire Calls

Scarsdale firefighters responded to a slate of calls over the past couple weeks, tackling locked-in toddlers and car crashes. Here's a round-up:

Monday, April 29, 12:24 p.m. -- A two-car accident at the Harcourt Road-Brewster Road intersection left one victim injured. Fire authorities helped remove the ailing motorist from the scene and transport him to the hospital. The two autos involved—a Nissan and a Toyota—had to be removed by a tow truck.

Monday, April 29, 5:47 p.m. -- Fire authorities responded to reports of a two-year-old locked in a bathroom on Greenacres Avenue. Officials used hand tools to unlock the door and free the child, who was unharmed.

Saturday, May 4, 7:15 a.m. -- A resident on Montrose Road called firemen after he was unable to shut off his gas fireplace. Fire authorities, along with Con Ed workers, were unable to turn off the unit, and were forced to shut off gas service to the entire home.

Saturday, May 4, 9:01 p.m. -- A youngster pulled a fire alarm lever at the Scarsdale Covers Clubhouae at 408 Old Mamaroneck Road during a party. Fire authorities responded to the call, but found nothing amiss.
