Scarsdale Man Accused Of Stabbing Wife To Death Enters Plea

Police said he stabbed his pediatrician wife 22 times.

SCARSDALE, NY — The man accused of stabbing his wife to death in Scarsdale has entered a plea. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Tuesday that Julius Reich of Scarsdale pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, a felony, in the stabbing death of 58-year-old Dr. Robin Goldman, his wife.

Reich, 64, will face a sentence of up to 25 years in state prison. He had originally been charged with second-degree murder, a felony, and a misdemeanor weapons possession charge.

His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 15.

Scarpino said Goldman’s adult children told his office and the court that it was their strong desire to avoid the trauma of a trial.

He said the children were in complete agreement with the plea because it would make their father accountable for his actions.

Police said Reich ambushed his wife the morning of Jan. 20, 2016, while she was showering. He stabbed her 22 times with an 8-inch kitchen knife. Goldman died at the scene.

After the attack on his wife, police said, Reich went downstairs and eventually called 911.

Scarsdale police responded, found Goldman’s body, and placed Reich under arrest.

Reich, a financial adviser, and his wife were in the process of getting a divorce but were living in the same house.
