Suspect In Bronx Murders Jumped In Front Of Train Sunday: Police

The bodies of a woman and her son were found later in the day.

HARTSDALE, NY — The man who apparently jumped in front of a train Sunday morning in Hartsdale was a suspect in the murders of a Bronx mother and her son. The body of Hector Cruz, 51, was found on the tracks at the Hartsdale Metro-North Railroad station around 9:40 a.m. Sunday.

The New York Police Department was looking for Cruz after Marisol Ortiz, 51, and her son Alanche del Orbe, 14, were found stabbed, strangled and bludgeoned in their Bronx apartment, the New York Post said.

The bodies of Ortiz and del Orbe were found Sunday evening.

A neighbor said screams were heard after 1 a.m. coming from their apartment, but it was thought to have been a party, NBC 4 New York reported.
