Liliane Lindsay, a 2014 graduate of Harrison High School, captured the Bronze medal at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Hamburg, Germany in mid- August. Lindsay, along with partner Meghan Galloway of Ridgefield, CT, became only the second U.S. Junior Women’s Pair to medal in this event at the World Championship level.

The two were matched only recently in the pairs event, competing first at the Junior National Team Selection Camp and then at the U.S National Team trials. Last year, Lindsay and Galloway, as part of an eight women team, represented the United States at the World Rowing Championship in Trakai, Lithuania -finishing in fifth place.

“Coming off last year’s disappointing result, this was the greatest redemption we could have asked for,” said Lindsay. “It was worth every ounce of pain that we put ourselves through in the race, and throughout our training. Our coach told us we could do this, and it felt great to live up to her confidence.”

A four-time New York State Champion, Lindsay began rowing in the sixth grade, amassing many gold medals in local and regional competitions. Showing her versatility, she won silver and bronze medals in the quadruple sculls at US Rowing Youth Nationals. Both Lindsay and Galloway will continue their winning partnership as teammates for Yale University.
