WJCS Back to School Drive: A Huge Success!

It's that time of the year again – back to school! Summer break is almost over and a new school year is fast approaching.

It’s that time of the year again – back to school! Summer break is almost over and a new school year is fast approaching.

Thousands of families across Westchester are gearing up for the start of the school year, a task that can be both exhilarating and overwhelming - with increased responsibilities for families and children.

This year’s Back to School Drive will allow over 1,000 children in under-served Westchester communities to head back to school equipped with new backpacks, school supplies and $50 Old Navy gift cards for first day of school outfits – a WJCS tradition that has been going on for over a decade.

Our Westchester corporate neighbors are doing their part! WJCS’ incredibly generous partners donated over 850 filled backpacks this year to the WJCS Back to School Drive, which will help Westchester students go back to school prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

MasterCard provided thousands of dollars’ worth of filled backpacks, and the UJA Federation of New York held a volunteer event where families packed over 100 backpacks that were donated to WJCS. Cuddy & Feder, Congregation Emanu-El, the Avidad family, and many others gave generous contributions of filled backpacks in support of the drive.

Donations go directly to children in WJCS, programs including school-based and standalone mental health clinics, after-school enrichment programs, parenting teens, domestic violence victims and more. WJCS’s mission is to significantly impact the life of a child in need and give them hope, support and the tools they need for a better future.

We would like to thank our partners and donors for another successful Back to School Campaign! If you would like to make a monetary donation to continue to support the drive going forward; or you would like more information, please contact Rebecca Sigman, Director of Community Engagement at rsigman@wjcs.com or call (914) 761-0600 x222
