Amazon Siting New Distribution Center In Shirley
Amazon has already begun hiring for jobs at the new distribution center in Shirley; see how to apply.

SHIRLEY, NY — Amazon is siting a new distribution center in Shirley, set to open next month and bring jobs to the area.
Amazon Logistics signed leases for two delivery stations in Long Island, Emily Hawkins, spokesperson for Amazon, said.
The Shirley facility will be located at 100 Precision Dr., inside the Brookhaven research and development technology park, south of the Long Island Expressway and east of William Floyd Parkway, said Brookhaven Town Councilman Dan Panico.

The 130,000-square-foot building is the site of the former Anorad/Rockwell Automation; the structure is being converted and renovated and plans and permits have been processed, Panico said.
That location is set to open in September, Hawkins said.

In addition, another location at 2 Westbury Ave. in Carle Place is slated to launch in late 2020.
"Delivery stations power the last mile of our order fulfillment process," she said. "Packages are transported to delivery stations from Amazon fulfillment centers, are sorted, and then loaded into vehicles for delivery to customers."
Another distribution center is located in Bethpage.
The stations will create hundreds of jobs, paying a minimum of $15 per hour and offering a variety of benefits packages; Amazon has more than 150 delivery stations in the United States, Hawkins said.
“We are excited to continue to invest in the state of New York with new delivery stations that will provide efficient delivery for customers, and create thousands of job opportunities for the talented workforce," Hawkins said.
“Nassau County welcomes Amazon as they breathe new life into a vacant, long-closed property," Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said of the Carle Place site. "This new distribution facility will provide many jobs and business opportunities for unemployed workers and businesses struggling during the pandemic, while generating critically needed tax revenue to support essential government services that residents rely on.”
North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth added: “Through several meetings with various neighborhood stakeholders, Amazon has clearly demonstrated that they care about our community. As they set up shop in a long vacant facility, we are pleased to welcome them to the town.”
Amazon has begun advertising jobs at the Shirley facility.
