Boy, 3, Dies After Being Hit By Truck Backing Out Of Driveway

The tragedy took place on Long Island Saturday, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A 3-year-old boy died after he was hit by a man backing his truck out of a driveway in Shirley on Saturday, police said.

The crash happened on Floyd Road North at 10:30 a.m. when Jayson Dulay, who was driving a 2018 Toyota Tundra out of his driveway, struck Kameron Wilson, 3, of New York City, according to Suffolk police. Dulay and his passenger performed CPR on the boy and called 911, police said.

Mastic Ambulance transported the child to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue; he was then transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752.
