FPALI Members Build New Home in Mastic Beach for Family in Need
Members of Financial Planning Association (FPALI) of LI help build home in Mastic Beach as part of Habitat for Humanity "Build Day."
Mastic Beach, NY; August 28, 2019 – It did not take much time for the Long Island Chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA of Long Island) in rallying members and their board to answer the call of community service by recently participating in a Habitat for Humanity "Build Day" through Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk. After a few phone calls and coordinating volunteers, FPA of Long Island stepped up quickly and assisted with the construction of a home in Mastic Beach, New York for a local family in need– helping to install new insulation, sheetrock and blocking the cabinets within the soon-to-be-completed home.
Habitat for Humanity "Build Day" brings local businesses, organizations and schools together each year to sponsor and construct new homes in Suffolk County for families in need. The FPA of Long Island members who participated were Mark A. Badami, Dominic V. Privitera, John A. Baldi, Scott Sanders, Steve Conroy, and Patricia Cimpric.
"Volunteering is one of the most selfless acts anyone can experience, and to help build this home and work alongside a family member that will live in this home is remarkable," commented Dominic V. Privitera, CFP®, CRPC®, Wealth Manager, LLC, Owner, "I learned so much about the family and it was a privilege to be part of this effort."

The family of four who will be moving into this new home had previously spent 29 years renting a room in a small space in Copiague, New York that was originally a storefront consisting of shared space with other families. The mother has been devoting full-time care to one of their sons who suffers from a mental disability so the father is able to work long hours to provide for the family and support their other son who attends college. The family found Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk in search of help with gaining a safer and more stable living environment. The Mastic Beach house is expected to be completed later this year and move-in ready by the winter.
