LI Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle: Police

MASTIC, NY — A man critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in Mastic last week has died, police announced Tuesday.

Jose Manual Diaz Orellana, 31, of Mastic, died after the crash, which took place Thursday at 8:05 p.m. on Titmus Drive.

Jonathan Soltan, 24, of Manorville, was driving a 2009 Mazda 6 north on Titmus Drive when his car struck Orellana, who was crossing the street, approximately 500 feet south of Boonar Street, Suffolk County police said.

Diaz was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition; Soltan was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Suffolk County Police Department's Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
