Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Shirley Crash

The motorcyclist struck a car that was in the turning lane and was seriously injured, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a Shirley crash Sunday, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place at 5:20 p.m. when Edward Biredsall, 63, of Copaigue, who was driving a 2018 BMW westbound on Victory Avenue and was in a turning lane, was struck by a Jayden France, 19, of Mastic Beach, who was driving a 2017 Kawasaki motorcycle.

France was transported via ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital for treatment of serious injuries; Biredsall and his 54-year-old passenger were not injured, police said.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
