New 7-Eleven Could Be Coming To Shirley: Councilman
The proposed site for the new 7-Eleven is located in front of the now-shuttered bowling alley, councilman says.

SHIRLEY, NY — A new 7-Eleven could be coming to Shirley.
On Tuesday, Brookhaven Town Councilman Dan Panico posted on social media about the property located in front of the former bowling alley on The Green — that property, he said, is being prepared for a site plan that is pending before the planning board.
"Here is the location, pending landscaped site plan and color architectural elevation submitted to the town," he said.

Meanwhile, Panico added: "The owner of the bowling alley is being contacted to paint over the graffiti on the west side of his building. He has no definitive plans for that building yet and is marketing it, but I suggested that a family type recreational spot would likely do well in the area."

Back in February, Panico said, despite rumors a'plenty and lots of speculation about what business might be opening at the former AMF Shirley Lanes, located on The Green — the business shuttered in recent years — a new bowling alley likely wasn't in the cards.
Panico said he'd just spoken to the new owner of the building, "which seems to be the subject of a new rumor daily."
The owner, he said, "has no definitive plans for the property and indicated that he is marketing it for a host of uses, from fitness to medical. Unfortunately, he indicated that he has no plans to proceed with a bowling alley."
Panico promised to update the community with news or plans for the site as they evolve.
Media representatives for 7-Eleven did not immediately return a request for comment.
