Pedestrian, 19, Seriously Injured In Shirley Crash: Police

The pedestrian was crossing the William Floyd Parkway on Monday night when the crash occurred, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A pedestrian was seriously hurt in a Shirley crash Monday night, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place at 9:45 p.m. in the northbound lane of the William Floyd Parkway. Michael Fraracci, 43, of Mastic Beach, was driving a 2006 Hyundai north when his vehicle struck Joseph Espada, 19, of Shirley, who was crossing the road, police said.

Espada was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries; Fraracci was not injured, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
