Special Weather Statement Issued For Long Island

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for Long Island:

Temperatures will lower areawide below freezing this afternoon. Standing water will eventually freeze, forming black ice on untreated walkways, sidewalks, parking lots and roadways. This will create slippery conditions. Use extra caution when venturing out.

Saturday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 14. Wind chill values between zero and 10. North wind 14 to 16 mph.

Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 28. Wind chill values between zero and 10. North wind 10 to 13 mph.

Sunday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 11. Wind chill values between zero and 5. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph.

Monday- Partly sunny, with a high near 31. Northeast wind 8 to 11 mph.

Monday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 26.

Tuesday- A 40 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36.

Tuesday Night- A 30 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23.

Wednesday- A 30 percent chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 31.

Wednesday Night- A 30 percent chance of snow before 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15.

Thursday- Partly sunny, with a high near 27.
