Student Makes Bomb Threat Against School District On Snapchat

MASTIC, NY — A student posted a bomb threat against the William Floyd School District on social media Wednesday, district officials said.
According to a Facebook post on the district's page: "The district learned that a student posted a bomb threat against William Floyd High School to Snapchat. The district immediately notified police and quickly identified the student. After an investigation, the Snapchat posting was deemed non-credible by authorities."
In addition to serious consequences by the school, the student has been turned over to the authorities, the district said.

"The district treats any threat with the utmost seriousness and urgency and we have zero tolerance for this type of reckless behavior. The district would like to remind students that posting threats to social media is not a joking matter and will result in serious consequences in school and within the criminal justice system. Please think about the potential consequences before you post," school officials said.
In addition, district officials said they will continue to work with law enforcement and cooperate with them in the quest to bring the individual to justice.
