Suffolk County Election 2019: Sunderman Wins Race For Legislature
The voters have spoken and incumbent Legislator Rudy Sunderman will serve another term.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — After the votes were tallied, incumbent Rudy Sunderman emerged the victor in the race for Suffolk County Legislator.
According to the unofficial tally, Sunderman garnered 6938 votes; challenger Daryl Edelstein had 3895 and Lynda Frego, 280 in the race.
Sunderman, 49, of Mastic, ran for re-election for the 3rd Legislative district, located in the south-central portion of the Town of Brookhaven. The District serves the Incorporated Village of Bellport and the hamlets of Bellport, Brookhaven, Mastic Beach, Mastic, Moriches, Shirley, Smith Point, Yaphank. Also covered in the district are portions of Center Moriches, Medford, Middle Island and Ridge.

Sunderman, a Republican endorsed by the Conservative and Independence parties, has three children, Jennifer, Megan, Rudy and Katie; Rudy works for the Town of Brookhaven Parks Department. Sunderman is a William Floyd High School graduate who has a New York State teaching degree in adult education. He is chief of the Mastic Fire Department and past commissioner of the Mastic Fire District.
