WFSD To Celebrate 285th Anniversary Of The Birth Of Namesake William Floyd

On Tuesday, December 17, the William Floyd School District along with its partners at the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library, will celebrate the 285th birthday of William Floyd, a delegate to the First Continental Congress and one of only 56 men to sign the Declaration of Independence. Throughout the day, students and staff will celebrate the life and legacy of William Floyd through age-appropriate activities in each school followed by a culminating event at the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library where students will read essays and display posters about the rich history of William Floyd and the local community.
