William Floyd School Budget Vote: What You Need To Know
Here's what you need to know Tuesday as you head to the polls to cast your ballots in the William Floyd school district vote.

SHIRLEY-MASTIC, NY —Residents are heading to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the 2021 to 2022 school budget vote and school board candidate election.
At the April 20, 2021 budget adoption meeting, the William Floyd Board of Education adopted its proposed $251,311,607 budget, which calls for a 0 percent tax levy increase and a 2.32 percent budget-to-budget increase.
"This budget, which maintains all student programs, clubs, sports, and other opportunities, is fiscally conservative for residents while providing long-term multi-year sustainability for district operations. The Board of Education has continued to put forth fiscally responsible budgets as evidenced by staying at or below the tax cap limit for the 10th consecutive year," the district said.

Residents will also vote on two propositions: The first, to authorize the district to transfer up to $5 million into the district’s repair reserve fund; and next, to establish a new capital reserve fund in the ultimate amount of $6 million with a probable term of 10 years to pay the costs of various upgrades across the district.
In the Board of Education election, four candidates, including incumbent Robert Vecchio, as well as Jennifer Ng Heitman, Kevin Meyer and Nick Pappas Taylor, are running for two seats.
