Smithtown To Host Affordable Housing Lottery For 7 New Homes
Find out if you're eligible for the chance to move into one of seven new affordable homes in Smithtown.

SMITHTOWN, NY - The Town of Smithtown will be hosting an Affordable Housing Lottery for several new homes next month.
Applicants will get the chance to move into one of seven new homes located at Country Pointe Woods at Smithtown.
The lottery will take place at the Town of Smithtown’s Town Hall Board Room on March 11 starting at 3 p.m.

Supervisor Ed Wehrheim, elected officials, Community Development coordinator, and the Town of Smithtown’s Planning Department, will rotate drawing applicants names.
Those chosen will then have the chance to qualify for the seven homes in the order their names are drawn.

The drawing is for seven owner-occupied 1 and 2 bedroom units. The average projected purchase price of the homes is estimated to be $350,100.
In order to be eligible to participate in the Program, an applicant must be a first-time homebuyer, must meet all program requirements including a total household income not to exceed 130 percent of the area median income for Nassau/Suffolk Counties.
Applicants must have an acceptable credit history as defined by the standards contained in these Guidelines.
The Town of Smithtown adopted a Municipal Workforce Housing Policy in October 2017, in accordance with New York State’s LI Workforce Housing Act.
The Workforce housing policy requires developers building subdivisions with five or more units, to create 10 percent of the development for workforce housing.
