SOHO, NY — Now that the weekend is here, it's time to let loose and explore the tipsy treats that SoHo has to offer. Although the area is less known for the best booze and bars and more known for fleeting glimpses of high-end fashionistas and the occasional celebrity trying to avoid paparazzi by donning gargantuan shades, we managed to scour SoHo and bring a list of the top five bars just for you.

Without further ado.

The Ship

This relatively unknown bar is a secret wonder located on 158 Lafayette St. It's underground and accessible through a door that almost misses your radar if you don't pay close attention. Once you're inside, you'll notice a solid grey nautical theme going on. It's spacious, intriguing and the bartender knows how to steer this ship in the right direction with a broad range of whiskey. Bon voyage!

Spring Lounge

Sure, Spring Lounge may not smell the best but the formula for the best dive bars is pretty simple: the more it smells like wet bark and despair, the better the beer is. Think slow twirling fans, old western wooden floors and good hops. If you're looking to take your date to a low-toned and unostentatious place where the beer flows foamy and endless, go here at 48 Spring St.

Mother's Ruin

If Cormac McCarthy ran his own bar, he would probably name it Mother's Ruin. Located on 18 Spring St., this bar offers slushies, wine on tap and some really good snacks. The space isn't too large but the relaxed and no-pretense-here environment truly makes up for it. Got a small group of friends in town or you're just looking to sit down and enjoy a pint? Mother's Ruin welcomes you.

The Brooklyneer

The Brooklyneer, as the name suggests, is a Manhattan-based bar with a Brooklyn-based theme. Before you pick your coat up and run away from the pending hipster dystopia inside, you'll be happy to know that there's no such thing inside this quaint and neatly decorated bar. If you're in the mood for a solid Moscow mule and some soccer, 220 West Houston St. awaits you.

Botanica Bar

Got $4? Head over to 47 East Houston St. Botanica Bar is the physical embodiment of the word "lowkey" and offers drinks at their cheapest rates until it's 8 in the evening. The DJ arrives at an hour after that (a different DJ every night so there's a truckload of variety) and the music is almost always amazing. Keep your Shazam on board because you'll need it.
