When: Saturday, 10:30 a.m. (Festival spans April 10 - May 6.)
Where: Lincoln Center
What: The Big Umbrella Festival is the world's first dedicated to arts programs for kids on the autism spectrum and their families. The festival is coming to Lincoln Center during April, which is Autism Awareness Month. The official kickoff to the festival is on Saturday morning with speakers and a musical performance. You can learn more, and reserve tickets, here.
Town Hall on Dogs in City Parks
When: Saturday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Where: 3 Clarkson St., West Village
What: If you're looking for a little civic engagement this weekend, you can be sure this town hall will attract a range of NYC characters, all of them with strong opinions on four-legged friends in city parks. The city's parks departments and representatives from other dog groups are hosting the town hall to educate residents about dog-friendly facilities in city parks, and to allow locals the chance to share their opinions, vent and complain about what they like (or dislike) about pups in city parks. The town hall will be visiting other boroughs later this year.
When: Sunday, 12-7 p.m.
Where: Union Square Park
What: Get ready for Earth Day a little early this year, by celebrating with thousands of people in Union Square Park on Sunday. Although Earth Day isn't officially until April 22, you can get ready with this massive festival in Union Square, which will bring together environmental groups from throughout the city for events both practical and fun.
