Diamond Ring Stolen From SoHo Mexican Joint, Cops Say

An unlucky Papatzul employee is down one diamond ring — plus his paycheck and a $100 jacket — after his bag was stolen from the restaurant.

SOHO, NY — It wasn't a happy Monday-evening shift for an employee at Papatzul, a Mexican restaurant at 55 Grand St., whose high-value belongings were stolen while he worked, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

At the start of his shift on Monday, Nov. 14, the employee, 35, set his bag down on a table in an employee work area, police say. At around 11:30 p.m., he noticed that it was gone, according to police.

Inside the bag was his paycheck, $100 and a $900 diamond ring — and his $100 jacket was stolen as well, police said.
