Fire Injures 6 At Google's Future Lower Manhattan Home: FDNY
Six firefighters suffered minor injuries after a fire broke out at Lower Manhattan's future Google offices, the FDNY said.

HUDSON SQUARE, NY — Six firefighters were injured after a fire broke out at a Lower Manhattan building where Google's future offices will rise, the FDNY said.
Up to 28 units and 120 firefighters rushed to the blaze about 6 p.m. Monday at 550 Washington St. in Hudson Square, the Fire Department said.
Six firefighters suffered minor injuries in the blaze, sparked after something caught fire in a storage container on the second story of the four-story building, FDNY said.

The second alarm went off at 6:17 p.m., and it was under control about an hour later, per the FDNY.
The Fire Marshal is still investigating the cause of the blaze. There was no evacuation necessary, and no civilians were injured, the FDNY said.

Last December, Google announced it was investing $1 billion into its Lower Manhattan campus at a combination of three Hudson Square properties, 315 and 345 Hudson St. and 550 Washington St.
Google plans to move into 550 Washington St. when the building is complete in 2022, the tech behemoth's Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat said at the time.
