The First-Ever Tory Burch Store Closes in Nolita
The super-successful fashion designer opened her first store in February 2004.
NOLITA, NY — The first-ever Tory Burch store is now shuttered, Bowery Boogie reports. The super-successful fashion designer opened the store at 257 Elizabeth St. in February 2004, and now it's a global empire.
Burch started the brand out of her apartment, and opened her first store in February 2004. Most of the inventory sold out on the first day. Oprah Winfrey then endorsed Burch on her show in April 2005, and called her "the next big thing in fashion." Burch's website received eight million hits the next day, according to Ladies Who Launch.

The company converted the Elizabeth Street store into a "Tory Sport" store, focused solely on Tory Burch athletic wear in July 2015.

“It was a bit tired after 11 years, I gutted the whole thing,” Burch told Business of Fashion.
Now, a little over a year later the store is closed. Patch called the store for a comment, but no one picked up the phone.
