Food Network Host To Open Soho Restaurant
The new restaurant, from food celebrity Eden Grinshpan, will be a fast-casual Mediterranean-style eatery.

SOHO, NY — The host of "Top Chef Canada" is preparing to open her first restaurant in Soho this year.
Eden Grinshpan, the host of the Food Network competition show, is prepping the restaurant, Dez. Grinshpan will be the chef and co-owner of the fast-casual restaurant, which she is launching in partnership with Samantha Wasser of ESquared Hospitality.
The restaurant, located at 227 Mulberry St., was granted a liquor license to serve beer and wine, but no hard alcohol, and community board approval for a small sidewalk cafe. The Mulberry Street space was gut renovated to make way for Dez, and the restaurant owners added doors that open the entire front of the restaurant out onto the public sidewalk, according to the business's application with community board 2.

The restaurant will seat 54 people and be open from 10 a.m. until 12 a.m. every day of the week, according to its liquor license application.
Dez will serve "Mediterranean-style food," and is expected to be fashioned in the fast-casual model of By Chloe, the popular vegan restaurant that was also co-founded by Wasser.

Grinshpan had originally planned to open Dez in fall 2017, according to her website. The restaurant's Instagram account began posting teaser photos in the last week. A representative for ESquared did not immediately respond to an inquiry from Patch about when the restaurant's official opening date would be.
