NOHO, NY — Chef Daniela Soto-Innes of Atla, a contemporary Mexican eatery in NoHo, was named as a James Beard finalist for best chef in New York City Wednesday.

Soto-Innes co-owns Atla, located at 372 Lafayette St., as well as another Mexican spot in the Flatiron District, Cosme.

The 28-year-old Latina chef hails from Mexico City. She immigrated to Texas in the early 2000s and moved to New York City at 23 — when she joined Enrique Olvera to open Cosme.

The Atla chef Soto-Innes was named alongside chefs of Momofuku Ko, Superiority Burger, Empellón Midtown and Via Carota.

In 2016, Soto-Innes won a James Beard award for rising star chef.

The James Beard Foundation announced the finalists Wednesday, with several New York City establishments and chefs seeking the prestigious award, known as the Oscars of the culinary world.

The awards will be presented May 6 at the Lyric Opera in Chicago.
