SoHo's San Carlo Osteria Piemonte Shuttered By City Inspectors
The Italian restaurant was closed by health inspectors this week.
SOHO, NY — Health inspectors shuttered a fancy Italian restaurant in SoHo this week, slapping it with 62 violation points, city health department records show.
San Carlo Osteria Piemonte, at 90 Thompson St., was inspected Wednesday and ordered closed by the Department of Health, records show.
The restaurant had violations including cold foods not held at the required temperatures, issues with flies and evidence of mice, among other issues, the records say.

A man who said he was a general manager at the restaurant but didn't give his name said New York City's hot temperatures and opened French doors at the restaurant were the "perfect storm" for Wednesday's violations. "It was like 100 degrees outside," he said.
The restaurant closed for a day-and-a-half and was slated to re-open at 4 p.m. Friday after an inspection that morning, the general manager said.

He added the issues were nothing that could not be fixed and noted "it's a tough city" to run a restaurant.
Previously, the restaurant has received A-grades, according to records.
San Carlo opened its doors in SoHo in 2016, Eater reported at the time.
