What: If you're planning to drink this St. Patrick's Day, a candlelight ghost tour might be exactly what you need to get you in the drinking mood. A nighttime tour of the Merchant's House Museum promises to be so unsettling that you'll need a strong drink afterwards to calm your nerves. The museum, located inside a house that dates back to 1832, is offering a special "Spirit of the Irish" ghost tour on Friday night, which will include a trip to the servants' quarters where the Irish servants who worked for the Tredwell family lived. Tickets cost $40 for non-members. You can learn more here.
When: Saturday, 11 a.m.
Where: Midtown
What: The annual St. Patrick's Day parade will bring thousands of emerald-clad revelers to Midtown. This year, partiers will march up Fifth Avenue from East 44th Street to East 79th Street. In preparation for the typically Guinness-soaked affair, the MTA has already banned alcohol from Long Island Rail Road and Metro North Railroad trains on Saturday. You can find all the parade details here.
When: Sunday
Where: Route starts in Brooklyn and ends in Manhattan
What: If your spent Saturday boozing, chances are you won't be up to running a half-marathon, but ambitious weekend warriors looking to burn off the previous night's drinks can sign up for the NYC Half Marathon, which starts in Brooklyn and ends in Central Park. You can learn more about the race here.
New York International Children's Film Festival
When: All weekend
Where: Various locations throughout the city
What: It's the last two days of the Children's Film Festival, which ends on Sunday. Movies and documentaries geared toward kids and teens are been displayed in locations throughout the city. This weekend, you and the kids can see "March of the Penguins 2: The Next Step," "Belle and Sebastian: Friends for Life," and more.
