Gayle Alden Robbins is a current GCNYC Masters Student. As a Conscious Design, Branding and Foresight Strategist, Gayle utilized her studies at GCNYC to create pomfy®, a product that benefits people without harming the planet. She uses up-cycled designer silks for the weighted eye-pillows and the one-of-a-kind meditation pillows are patched together using last season’s headers from European fabrics. All the pillows are made domestically.

The name pomfy® stands for Peace Of Mind For You. My pomfy® peeps can rest easy knowing that the pillows are consciously designed. Conscious design means both an awareness of the potential long-term and unintended consequences of what we design and a continuous experimentation of our design process to build more sustainable products and services.

I still have my post-it note taped to the inside of my pomfy® notebook. I wrote “build a sustainable brand.” While I did not understand the depth of that statement at the time…I do now.

Pomfy® is a magical combination of love and wonder – love for my husband and wonder about what it means to build a healthy planet.

It’s such an exciting time to be working with purpose driven brands creating concepts supporting people and planet. Thank you GCNYC for helping me light this candle!
