Coldplay Makes Elderly Woman's Dream Come True at Hamptons Concert

An 84-year-old woman brought a rose for Chris Martin.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Fans of all ages turned out for an exclusive Coldplay concert at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett Sunday — with one 84-year-old woman, who just may be Chris Martin's biggest fan, thrilled to be in the audience.

Ticket holders, many of whom won the coveted tickets through SiriusXM, were told to arrive at "the secret location," at 4 p.m.; the show was broadcast live on SiriusXM to fans nationwide at 6 p.m.

By 4:45 p.m., anticipation was in the air as fans were allowed inside. All the seats in Stephen Talkhouse had been removed for the performance, so it was standing room only, according to Southampton's Michael Paraskevas a well-known East End artist/children’s book illustrator, who won tickets and brought his 84-year-old mother-in-law, Priscilla Bruno, to see her idol.

In 2013, Bruno got to meet Chris Martin at Authors Night East Hampton.

And on Sunday night, Bruno, who lives in Manorville, was treated wonderfully by Coldplay management and SiriusXM personnel, who brought her into the venue in a wheelchair, according to her daughter Maria.
Bruno, whose favorite Coldplay song is "Viva La Vida," brought in a red rose, which she was hoping to give to Chris Martin while he was performing, Paraskevas said.

And just in case the music was a bit too loud, staffers had something for Bruno, too — earplugs.

Bruno was joined by some A-list celebs who turned out for the show, including Alec Baldwin, who was spotted at the venue while the band was doing a soundcheck, which could be heard on Main Street.

Other famous faces who attended the live show included Christie Brinkley, Jon Bon Jovi, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Katie Lee, Beth Ostrovsky Stern, Jimmy Buffet, John McEnroe, Bethenny Frankel, Harvey Weinstein and Ron Delsener. Martin and Paltrow's close pals Jay-Z and Beyonce were also spotted in the crowd, but they didn't stay long.

After the soundcheck, Martin waited across the street at Jack’s Stir Brewed Coffee shop, which was closed off to customers with a velvet rope.

Martin's ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow came to the front door of Jack's to talk to some of his entourage members, waiting outside.

Moments later, Martin and Paltrow, in some clearly friendly conscious uncoupling, headed with their two kids, Apple and Moses — as well as an assemblage of tour management and security — across Main Street into the venue.

Bruno, whose daughter described her as over the moon about the show tonight, was wowed by the performance: "Chris's music is very dreamlike. It was great."
