Guide To Hamptons Labor Day Weekend Celebrity Happenings

The unofficial end of the summer weekend still can bring out the stars.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Labor Day weekend has arrived and even if the weather doesn’t end up being beach-worthy, there's still lots to do for people who want to spot a star and live like the celebrities do on the East End.

One of the hottest spots in Southampton is Tutto il Giorno, the restaurant owned by Donna Karan’s daughter, Gabby Karan De Felice. In fact, it’s such a celebrity power eatery that the New York Post reported Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, were having dinner there a few weeks ago and saw George Bush and his wife, Laura, dining there, also.

For late-night revelers AM Southampton has seen 50 Cent spinning, and he also spent time at the nearby Summer House Lounge earlier this summer. On Saturday the party keeps on going at the AM when Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano Hamptonzoo Party hits it at 10 p.m. Click here for tickets.

In Southampton, there’s no better lunch and dinner spot for celebrity watching than 75 Main, where Joe Biden, Roger Waters and Jonathan Cheban have all dined.

Across the street at Sant Ambroeus, celebrity chefs like Geoffrey Zakarian gravitate to the food and the espresso.

Another spot where celeb chefs are often seen is Pierre’s in Bridgehampton, and chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten gave it a shoutout.

Montauk’s Surf Lodge is known as a spot where Jimmy Buffett has popped in to play an unexpected set. Other stars who've stopped by in the past include Taylor Swift and Leo DiCaprio. The perfect waterfront dining and a hot spot from noon on, is Navy Beach in Montauk. Even if the weather doesn't hold up, there’s a happening scene inside.

And don’t forget a visit to one of the two pancake houses in Montauk, John’s Pancake House and Anthony’s Pancake House,. Both houses have loyal local celeb followings. and even with a line, they're worth the wait.

For another casual meal, The Clam Bar in Amagansett is a great spot for celebrity watchers. Gwyneth Paltrow and her family have been seen here.

Another place to catch a glimpse of A-listers is window-shopping in East Hampton. Paltrow along with her pal Stella McCartney and their daughters were seen strolling together on Main Street last year. Susan Lucci and Jennifer Lopez have also made an appearance in town.

Montauk resident Ralph Lauren has been seen at his stores on Main Street in East Hampton, as has his daughter, Dylan Lauren, who opened her own store, Dylan’s Candy Bar, on the same street.

Further east on 27 in East Hampton, Katie Holmes was seen shopping in CVS.

Over the holiday weekend, a trip to the East Hampton Cinema is low-key and won’t break the bank. Celebs on the East End do it too — Bill Murray and Steven Spielberg have taken in flicks at the theater.

In East Hampton on Sept 3, singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega will be busy with two events that the public can attend. Along with a performance that night at Guild Hall, click here for tickets, Vega will also be performing earlier in the day at the Third Biennial Family Picnic in East Hampton where Debbie Harry and Chris Stein of Blondie fame will be playing along with Rufus Wainwright. On Sept. 4 the music continues at East Hampton’s Guild Hall, where The Doo Wop Project, a 5-man a cappella group, will take center stage for two performance. Click here for info.

Dinner at Nick and Toni’s in East Hampton is a great celebrity watch-spot. One recent Tuesday night, Liv Tyler was dining on the patio as Luke Wilson was at the bar; Martha Stewart and Alec Baldwin are often there. And even without a dinner reservation, one may be lucky to snag a seat at the bar.

Also in East Hampton, there’s The Palm restaurant, where East Hampton’s own Ina and Jeffrey Garten, who live within walking distance, have been spotted.

A star attraction in the Hamptons is the water and if you don”t make it to beach this Labor Day Weekend, there’s a great view of the water at East Hampton Point, where Martha Stewart’s also been seen. Bonus attraction: the sunset view.

Another good bet for star gazing is the Stone Creek Inn in East Quogue. It’s among Susan Lucci’s fave Hamptons eateries.
