Hamptons Village 2nd Most Expensive Zip Code In U.S.: Report

SAGAPONACK, NY — Gorgeous sunsets and ocean-swept vistas aside, the Hamptons once again tops the list of glittering real estate locales, earning the distinction of having some of the most expensive zip codes in the United States.

According to a new report by PropertyShark.com, Sagaponack, a village in Southampton, has a zip code of 11962 — and it came in second on a list of the Top 100 most expensive zip code in the country, with a median home sale price in 2018 of $5.5 million.

Coming in first is Atherton, CA, with a median sale price of $6.7 million.

The East End made a sweep, with five other zip codes making the list: Water Mill, also located on the East End, comes in at #17, with a median sale price in 2018 of $2.862 million; Amaganett tied for #35, with a median sale price of $2.15 million, Bridgehampton secured the #46 spot, with a median sale price in 2018 of $1.92 million, Wainscott tied for #48 with a median sale price of $1.895 million, and Quogue tying for #76, with a median price of $1.6 million, according to PropertyShark.com.

Nassau County also received nods on the list: Old Westbury has the 67th most expensive zip code, with a median sale price of $1.645 million; Manhasset tied for #93 with a median sale price of $1.475 million; and Great Neck won the #96 spot at $1.442 million, according to the post.

California and New York City also scored some pricey zip codes.

According to the PropertyShark post, "To determine which were the most expensive zip codes in the U.S.," a look was taken at all residential transactions closed in 2018, including condos, co-ops, single and two family homes. Due to some ties, there are 117 zip codes in the Top 100 list, the post said.
