Man Charged With Drugged Driving After Southampton Crash
He attempted to flee the scene and was arrested Saturday, police said.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A man was charged with drugged driving after crashing in Southampton Saturday, police said.
The crash happened at 1:02 p.m. on Tuckahoe Road near County Road 39, according to the Southampton Town Police Department. The driver, Melvin David Palacios-Lainez, 20, of Sag Harbor, left the scene but was later found by officers, police said.
He was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, and leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, a traffic infraction, police said.

He was taken to Southampton Town Police headquarters, where he was processed and held pending an arraignment, police said.
