Man Charged With DWI After Driving Down Center Lane: Police
His blood alcohol content was more than 2X the legal limit, police say.
SAGAPONACK, NY— A man was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content more than two times higher than the legal limit in Sagaponack Sunday, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, the incident took place at 3:12 p.m. when police received a call regarding a "reckless, erratic" driver heading west on Montauk Highway near Town Line Road. Rafael Jesus Manuel Quizque, 38, of Hampton Bays was seen driving down the center lane and failing to maintain his lane, police said.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated: more than .18 percent blood alcohol content — the legal limit is .08 percent — driving while intoxicated, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle, illegal driving in the center lane, and moving from lane unsafely, police said.
