Man Who Jumped Into Bay Found Safe After All-Night Search
Southampton police and other rescue units searched through the night to find the 27-year-old New Jersey man, authorities say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY —A man who jumped into the Shinnecock Bay Sunday was found safe after an all-night search in poor weather, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, at 8:10 p.m., a call came in about a man, 27, from New Jersey who had reportedly jumped into the Shinnecock Bay.
The search continued for several hours with some agencies called off for the inclement weather; Southampton Town Police continued to search both land and waterways through the night, police said. The man was located unharmed at 6:50 a.m. on Monday and transported to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

A number of Southampton Town Police patrol units responded, with help from Southampton Town bay constables, Suffolk County Police aviation, Southampton Village and Riverhead Town K-9 units, the United States Coast Guard, Suffolk County Park Police, the Westhampton Beach Fire Department, the Southampton Village Fire Department, and the Hampton Bays Fire Department and their dive team, police said.
