NY Beaches, Pools Open For Memorial Day, With Social Distancing

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the plan is to open beaches and pools statewide at 100 percent capacity by July 4.

LONG ISLAND, NY — New York beaches and pools will be open by Memorial Day weekend — with 6-foot social distancing still mandated.

With the coronavirus positivity rate continuing to fall — Monday's positivity rate stood at 1.1 percent — Cuomo said the hope is that by July 4, beaches will be at 100 percent capacity, so people can have "a normal summer."
