Police: Flanders Man Arrested for Assault

Victim treated for injuries at Peconic Bay Medical Center

The Southampton Town Police arrested a Flanders man for assault on Wednesday night.

At approximately 10:42 Wednesday night, the police were called to the Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead where a man was being treated for injuries sustained in an attack, which occurred at approximately 9:45 that evening on Royal Avenue in the Hamlet of Flanders. The victim told police that he had been assaulted by Lowell W. Meyer, 40, also of Flanders.

Subsequently, the police located Meyer. He was arrested and charged with third degree assault, a misdemeanor. He was transported to Southampton police headquarters, processed and held for morning arraignment.
