Snow Emergency Lifted In Southampton
With the blizzard a no show, Supervisor Jay Schneiderman commented, "There's really nothing to report."

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — With the expected winter snowstorm pretty much a no-show Tuesday, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman lifted the snow emergency order.
"Although the strong winds and heavy rain still present the risk of some local flooding and coastal erosion, the snow and freezing rain predicated have moved well to the west of our area," a release said.
The emergency order was lifted at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

"There's not much to report," he said. "The roads are passable."
While he said he'd seen minor flooding on Dune Road, it was not an issue, as has been in past storms when Dune Road and other locations became submerged.
In fact, Schneiderman said, "We have less snow than we started. The snow has gotten washed away. Super Storm Stella has gotten us all geared up for a major event. But we haven't seen a major event."
The only concern, the supervisor said, remains later Tuesday evening, when "all this water freezes," sparking potentially downed tree limbs and wires and slick roads coated with treacherous black isce.
"The last few storms have been worse than forecast. This one is significantly less than forecast," Schneiderman said.
