Southampton Students Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.'s Legacy
Lessons on kindness were imparted to elementary school students in Southampton in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Southampton Elementary School students celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. recently with lessons on kindness.
Second graders in Yesica Castro-Martinez’s class listened to a reading of the Spanish version of “Celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with Mrs. Park’s Class” by Alma Flor Ada. Next, they talked about ways they could continue carrying out and fulfilling his dream and wrote about their own dreams for the world, which included world peace, respect and love, the district said.
Third graders in Wendy Etheridge’s class also celebrated Dr. King by reading more about his life and writing their own dreams for the world, the district said.
