SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Southampton High School junior has earned top honors: Sarah Spanburgh has qualified to enter the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program based on her score on the 2021 preliminary SAT, the district aid.

Spanburgh is among 50,000 students nationwide who will be recognized as either a semifinalist or commended student this fall, the district said.

“This is another example of academic excellence displayed by one of our students,” said Principal Brian Zahn. “We are so proud of her continued efforts and wish her all the best during the National Merit Scholarship selection process.”

Spanburgh belongs to the National Honor Society, the National Art Honor Society, and the National Foreign Language Honor Society; she is also a member of the East Hampton YMCA swim team.
