Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s 61st Annual Summer Party

This Saturday, the Hamptons social scene will peak with as the biggest social swans in the East End flock to the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s 61st Annual Summer Party, to support the Jenny & John Paulson Emergency Department. There will be plenty of finery under the tented fields at Wickapogue and Old Town Roads in Southampton. Expect bright hues in keeping with this year’s theme, ‘The Colors of Summer.’ The gala is large enough to accommodate the community at large, who benefit year round from its top tier medical services.

Chuck Scarborough, the iconic co-anchor of NBC 4 New York’s 6 P.M. and 11 P.M. will once again preside as emcee. Jean and Martin Shafiroff, the hospital’s record-breaking fundraisers, will be honored. Guests will include: Marigay McKee & Bill Ford, Audrey & Martin Gruss, Jenny & John Paulson, Margo & James Nederlander and Bridget Moynahan.

“If there’s one cause to support in the Hamptons,” Jean Shafiroff likes to say, “it’s the hospital. Think about it: No hospital — do you want to live here? No!” The Shafiroff’s have been hospital supporters for almost as long as they have had their home in the Southampton Estate Section. And they love to entertain for the cause. “It’s essential that the towns and villages of the East End have access to world class healthcare which is why my husband and I are dedicated to supporting the hospital,” Jean said.

The hospital began making true strides in the care it is able to provide, when Robert Chaloner, Chief Administrative Officer at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, took over the helm. “As the only hospital on the South Fork of Long Island, we have a tremendous responsibility to provide best-in-class healthcare to everyone who vacations or lives out here,” he said. “Fortunately, we have a world class team of physicians, support staff and generous donors who enable us to run a 24/7 Emergency Department, a Heart & Stroke Center, a Breast Center, a Cancer Center and more, which all offer the highest level of care, comparable with the best medical institutions in the city and around the country.”

Honorary Chairs for the event are Georgina Bloomberg and Stanley & Fiona Druckenmiller, Junior Chairs are Michael Lorber, Jackie Sharioff, Elizabeth Shafiroff, Caitlin Diebold, and Vanessa Gordon. Medical Chairs are Dr. Charles & Diane Guida and Dr. John & Alessandra Hubbell and the Corporate Chair is Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

Red carpet designers, Sachin & Babi, are the Fashion Chairs this year and will be attending the event. Sachin & Babi are well known for their celebrity clients who include Michelle Obama, Octavia Spencer, Mindy Kaling, Brooke Shields, Patricia Clarkson and many other leading ladies.

Dinner and décor are being overseen by celebrity event planner, Lawrence Scott. This year Scott will be interpreting the party’s theme in fun and surprising decorative designs.

During the cocktail hour, Hamptons Lemonade and Hamptontinis will be served alongside top shelf wines and cocktails; and a new local brand, Montaukila will be serving its 100 percent agave azul tequila.

The summer soiree will offer a fun, memorable night beginning at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails, followed by an elegant dinner at 7:30 p.m. Once dinner concludes, guests will be invited to dance to the eighteen-piece Groove Society band.

All proceeds raised from this year’s event will help to sustain Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Emergency Department, which is open 24/7 year-round for residents as well as visitors and summer guests. The Jenny & John Paulson Emergency Department is South Fork’s only emergency care facility, treating more than 25,000 people annually.
