Woman Charged After 3 Car, 1 Motorcycle Crash In Southampton: PD

The driver was charged with circumventing an interlock device and operating the vehicle without a license, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A woman was charged with circumventing an interlock device and driving without a license after a crash involving three cars and a motorcycle on County Road 39 in Southampton Saturday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, the crash took place at 11:37 a.m. on County Road 39 and Tuckahoe Road. Ayana Williams, 31, of Troy, New York, was charged with two counts of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, circumventing an interlock device, unlicensed operation, and failure to maintain lane, police said.

Williams, who was driving east on Country Road 39 in a Chevrolet Cruz, drifted into the turning lane and sideswiped a Toyota Tundra driven by Mark Liguori, 41, of Yaphank, police said. Liguori tried to avoid the crash and struck a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Jarred Halsey, 24, of Southampton, who then crashed into a 2020 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Raymond Maggi, 53, of Blue Point, police said. All three vehicles were traveling west on County Road 39 when the crash occurred, police said.

The Southampton Fire Department and Southampton Volunteer Ambulance responded and transported the driver of the Harley and two passengers from the Tundra to an area hospital, police said.

County Road 39 was closed for about an hour and a half, police said.
