Brewster Boys to Play in Finals

They're set to play the same team they lost to earlier this week.

The good times just keep coming for the boys on 11U team.

Coaching assistant Joseph Charbonneau called Friday's 5-4 win against Middletown a "thriller." He said the team will now play West Nyack in the Section 4 Finals at a 1 p.m. away-game Saturday.

The win followed a rain-out Thursday. On Wednesday, the boys lost 6-1 to West Nyack, but they won another battle. Teammate Evan Sussman, who is in a wheelchair because of cerebral palsy, was given the OK to remain in the dugout, with the peers he's sat next to for years.

Sussman made headlines when a reported liability issue threated to take him away from the squad. He missed a game because of it last weekend.

The team won the district championship earlier this month. The boys beat Lewisboro in consecutive games, following losses to them earlier in the tournament.

"This team has accomplished a great deal this year that few, if any, Brewster teams have done in the past," Charbonneau said.
