Brewster figure skating team dazzles at National Championships

Dynamic Ice Cabaret Ensemble (DICE) placed 4th and 6th at 2018 US National Theatre on Ice Championships in Geneva, Illinois

The Dynamic Ice Cabaret Ensemble (DICE) looks nice on ice!

The team, which trains at the Brewster Ice Arena, placed 4th and 6th in its events at the 2018 US National Theatre on Ice Championships in late June. Their choreographic exercise (CE) program about the meaning of life delighted the crowd with music set to "A Million Dreams." Their free-skate was also well-received, telling the story of girls addicted to their phones -- until someone steps in and takes them to a smartphone-free world!

The team consists of skaters from New York and Connecticut, ranging in age from 10 to 18 years old. They have been training since October on Saturday mornings. Since last fall, they've performed and competed around New England and the tri-state area.

They are coached by Master-rated instructor Gianine Craw; former Disney on Ice star Allison Best; and former Team USA member Victoria Craw.

Gianine Craw founded DICE back in 2005. Since then, she's led the team to compete at several National championships and some international Theatre on Ice events.

The team is currently recruiting for its 2018-2019 season, which begins in late fall. Skaters must have passed (or be close to passing) pre-preliminary moves in the field; all levels above that welcome. If you're interested in joining DICE, please visit www.dicetheatreonice.org or email Coach Gianine at gianine.craw@gmail.com. We'd love to hear from you!
