Civil Air Patrol Holding CyberPatriot Open House in Carmel

Join Civil Air Patrol's Putnam County Composite Squadron for an informative introduction to the CyberPatriot program in Carmel, NY.

Students interested in learning virtual state-of-the-art skills are invited to join the Putnam County Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, for an informative introduction to the CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Education Program, on Saturday, April 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services located at 112 Old Route 6 in Carmel.

CyberPatriot, the premier national youth cyber education program, was created by the Air Force Association to inspire high school and middle school students towards careers in cybersecurity and other science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines critical to our nation’s future.

The program is geared to teach students, grades 6-12, the skills necessary to secure computers from cyberattacks, promote safe practices among cyber users across the nation and raise interest in cyber security as a career field. “Students who join the CyberPatriot program do not need to know anything about computers or about cyber threats,” said Second Lieutenant Bruce Geller, Putnam County Composite Squadron Information Technology Officer. “They will learn about computer security, operating systems, networks, vulnerabilities, cyber threats and how to prevent cyberattacks,” noted Geller.
