Crossroads 312 Says Its Poll Finds Most Residents Support Project

Southeast, NY (1/19/15) – Crossroads 312, a proposed hotel and retail space project in the town of Southeast, NY, has announced a poll that shows over 80% of town residents support the project when educated about the job creation potential.

The proposed project, in the Town of Southeast, would create 143,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space with a 100-room hotel located on just over 50 acres of land at the intersection of NYS Route 312 and Interstate 84.

According to an independent and scientifically conducted poll, which interviewed 300 residents in the town of Southeast during December, the Crossroads 312 project has vast public support.

After being educated on the projects job creation and the type of jobs that would be created, 81% of those surveyed said they support the project.

The proposed project recently announced they expect to bring a total of 700 new jobs to the Putnam County area. A total of 391 full time jobs, 158 part time jobs and 150 construction jobs are expected to be created, pending town approval. The jobs will range from construction, retail, food service, hospitality and more.

The proposed project will have an overall positive effect on the Town of Southeast and Putnam County. The Final Environmental Impact Statement estimates that the proposed project will generate approximately $1,756,268 annually in property taxes.

Providing additional local shopping opportunities would also serve as a new means for the community to collect sales tax dollars. According to the Putnam County Economic Development Corporation, the project is expected to generate more than $3.5 million annually in sales tax revenue.

The Town of Southeast will be hosting a public hearing regarding proposed zoning changes for the project on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 7PM at the Southeast Town Hall located at 360 Route 22, Brewster, NY 10509.
