BREWSTER, NY — An alert person on the Putnam County Trailway noticed an injured hawk Jan. 25 and called it in.

It was Environmental Conservation Officer Evan Crisafulli, on patrol at the time, who received the reports. Crisafulli responded and located the red-shouldered hawk on a nearby woodpile. It was unable to fly away due to an injured wing.

Crisafulli safely captured the hawk and transported it to a wildlife rehabilitator.
