Stopped Car Leads To DWI Charge For Southeast Resident
A Putnam Sheriff's deputy found a car stopped in the middle of Route 6 Saturday night.
SOUTHEAST, NY — Putnam Sheriff's Deputy Matthew Shelters came across a car stopped in the middle of Route 6 Saturday night.
He was on routine patrol at 10:35 p.m. when he found the car blocking the southbound lane, police said.
As he checked it out, Shelters concluded that the driver, Perfecto Lopez-Garcia was intoxicated. Testing revealed that the 39-year-old had a blood alcohol content of .11 percent, police said.

Lopez-Garcia was charged with 2 misdemeanor counts of Driving While Intoxicated and two traffic violations.
